About Mike

With a former career in the culinary arts and feeling the physical effects from that work environment, Michael, having had the positive experience of receiving  massage, started his  training at the Venice School of Massage in Bonita Springs, FL and enjoyed the study of anatomy and the healthier diet that that environment  encouraged. Michael graduated in 1994 and received his FL State License (MA0019023). His passion is Posture, creating symmetry in the body’s alignment,pain- relief, client education in posture exercises, sports massage and relaxation techniques. He has studied with Aaron Mattis, James Waslowski, Tom Myers, Paul St. John and Cathy Cohen, gaining experience in the visual orthopedic assessment of the body, neuromuscular and trigger point therapy techniques, active isolated stretching, and myofascial techniques.

In 2005, Michael participated in a full body, cadaver dissection seminar. In 2012, Michael completed certification in Posture Exercise training with the Bodyzone(Dr.Steven Weiniger) system and is now a (CPEP) cerifified posture exercise professional, which compliments his posture-oriented bodywork. Personal experience has been one of Michael’s best teachers. Having to work through several bouts of chronic low back pain, a torn knee meniscus repair, a broken scaphoid bone in the wrist, Michael has his own rehab experiences, as well as those of his clients, from which to draw. Most recently, his interests have been leaning toward a Posture Paradigm, where the elements of posture- Balance, Alignment and Movement- are the focus in both mobilizing tissues(with bodywork) and stabilizing joints(with posture exercise),thereby giving the bodys’ systems optimal space in which to function.

My massage experiences with Michael are unique each time. He is very good at listening to my stated needs and addressing them by using his intuition and knowledge to choose the best modality to effectively address the specific concern.  I especially enjoy when I reach a wonderful state of deep relaxation and the feeling of rest and tension release at the end of the massage. He truly has masterful hands and ability.  ~Debbie Frenkel
